9 Months Old

This was the best we could do for a 9 month picture

Joshua had his 9 month appointment on the 15th and it went well.  He weighs in at 19 lb 15 oz and is 27 inches.  He didn't need any immunizations but I had him get his flu shot.  Dr. Geddes said that Joshua is doing well compared to others his age.  He wasn't concerned that Joshua wasn't crawling since he does scoot and move to where he wants to be.  As far as eating goes, he'd like to see Josh eating table food by the time he's one.  We've already started doing this.  Many nights he eats his dinner, then eats a little of whatever we are having for dinner.  He said that we can also start switching out a bottle of formula for whole milk so he's drinking whole milk by the time he's 1.  However, everything that I've read says to wait until they're 1 to start cow's milk.  I think we're going to wait a little longer.  

At his 9 month doctor's appointment.

Joshua must have felt the pressure from Dr. Geddes (and Andy) to start crawling.  The day after his appointment he started crawling!  At the time I started this post, he would only crawl toward our cell phones or the laptop.  Since then, he crawls at his own will everywhere!  The first time Joshua crawled from his toys in the family room to where I was at the sink in the kitchen, he cried the entire way.  However, he was determined to get to Mommy, and he did!  Joshua loves to crawl into the kitchen to see "Aga" (Agger).  Even more, he loves when Aga does his tricks.  Playing dead is the funniest trick.

Joshua has increased the amount he eats, and often seems like a bottomless pit.  He gets very upset when we are eating and not sharing with him.  Most nights we have to give him bits of our food throughout the meal to keep him content.  I don't think he has turned down any food we've given him as long as it is the right size for chewing.


The teeth count has risen to 5 now! Josh has 3 teeth on the bottom and 2 on top.  Needless to say, we no longer let him chew our fingers.
