Eat, Sleep, Poop

Joshua is just over 5 weeks old now and weighs about 11 pounds.  That's an unofficial weight from us weighing ourselves then holding him and weighing ourselves again.  However, by the amount he eats I'd say it's fairly accurate.  Up until a few days ago Joshua was rarely fussy.  He has been more so lately, but he is still a very good baby.  We can generally figure out what's wrong and stop the crying fairly quickly.  The source of his anger is usually that he's hungry or cold.  This little boy loves to be wrapped up in a warm blanket.  A cozy baby is a happy baby.  Although when he does get upset it happens all of a sudden and can be seen with a big frown and bright red face.  He calms down almost as quickly as he becomes upset.  One solution we have found is positioning him under the ceiling fan.  Joshua is a happy camper under the fan whether it's on or off.

Joshua still eats about every 3 hours.  There are times that I need to wake up him up to eat, but generally he lets me know when it's time.  At night he will usually go a stretch of 4 to 5 hours before eating again, which is nice for my sleep schedule.  All of that eating and sleeping must be helping him grow.  Many of his newborn clothes are quite snug or do not fit.  Andy brought Joshua in to me the other morning and said, "Look how much he grew over night?"  I can't believe how much he has grown since he was born.

February 14, 2012- 1 Month Old

I had my 6 week postpartum appointment yesterday and the doctor OK'ed me to go back to work and begin normal exercising again.  I am somewhat looking forward to working out again, but returning to work is a different story.  I anticipate getting out of the house a bit more, but wish Joshua was going with me.  I know he will be in good hands with Andy and his mom, but that doesn't make leaving him much easier.  I regretfully return to work on Monday the 27th.  Until then, I'm going to soak up every last moment with my little boy.
